This is the 2019 edition, but the book was released originally in 1977, and it definitely has that seventies vibe! It’s in the splashy School House Rock, flower power, Fraggleness of it all. And it’s in that peculiar fondness the seventies had for things both handsome and hideous, like the goblins whose faces are the stuff of nightmare and their ROYGBIV bellies the stuff of Care Bear stares. Actually, Ralph Bakshi’s Lord of the Rings comes to mind. Thanks to my good friend Evander Price for the recommendation! This book should be on every picture book collector’s shelf.
